Laura & Matthew’s Wedding Day Highlights

An awesome couple, drones, and a rocking band! Oh my!

Okay, that introduction is a bit over kill bordering on the mellow dramatic but is entirely true!

As Laura was with her girls, Matt was hanging out with his guys at Matt and Laura’s new home. Yep, you are right in what you are thinking – during the craziness of life that is a wedding, (and school for the bride) this awesome couple bought a home at the same time. Like Matt says, “When things are crazy, just pile some more on, for when it is all over you can really relax.” Truer words have not been spoken my friend. After freshening up, Matt put on his custom tailored suite (totally hand made with embroidered touches) and joined his guys in their Men’s Wearhouse suits down stairs for quick and refreshing lunch. After a few photos with his guys it was time to see his gorgeous bride for the first time.

Laura’s day started with a very large bottle of water at Symmetry Salon & Spa in Lansdale. All the ladies knew it was going to be a hot day, so they traded champagne for liters of water (can you tell that the bride is a nurse???) so that come party time in the evening, they would all be ready to drink and have a good time. When the ladies arrived back to Laura’s parents house, her Maggie Sottero bridal gown, from Bridal Garden, was waiting for her. While she was getting buttoned into her dress (30 perfect pearl buttons surrounded by lace), Wegmans Warrington delivered the bridal bouquets for the bridesmaids and bride. The pops of fall colors matched the Bill Levkoff wine colored bridesmaid dresses perfectly. Laura went a bit more traditional with white and red roses in greenery. At some point we chanted “to the bus!” and we headed to the impressive party bus from Chic’s Limousine.

If you have read our blogs before, you know we are pretty big suckers for sentimental and person touches clients bring to their wedding day. For this couple it was having their first look at their house. Their house is more than a building to them. It is a symbol of the life and future they are constructing together so it only makes sense the first time they see each other would be in front of their new home. Matt waited for Laura in the shade under a large tree and to his credit he was very calm, cool, and collected. When Laura said his name, he turned and the smile on his face defies description. It was the kind of happiness only a few moments in your life could cause. It was a truly special moment and one we were proud to take part.

After some quick photos around their property everyone boarded the bus and headed of to Historic Hope Lodge. Hope Lodge is a fantastic location with gardens, a beautiful historic house, and tree lined pathways. A little photography dream nestled right in Fort Washington. Also, the large grass entryway highlight the historic house is a perfect location for drone videography. Matt loves drones and when he heard the wonderful guys over at Enchant Cinema had a one he requested “drone time” during the wedding day. Besides seeing his future wife for the first time, the largest smile we saw from him all day was when the boys of Enchant Cinema let him take the drone for a test spin around the grassy area. After finishing up some photos the rockin’ bridal party headed over to The Manor House at Commonwealth to get Matt and Laura married.

The Manor House at Commonwealth is an 18th Century fieldstone farmhouse with 21st century amenities – super cool that it is tucked back away from the hustle and bustle of Horsham (it was so quiet!). We continued to do a handful more photos on the lovely grounds. After that, it was time for Laura and Matt’s ceremony. We loved their ceremony performed by Jill from Meaningful Milestones! Not only was it heart touching and contained elements unique to Laura and Matt. The ceremony “fit” them perfectly and was a gorgeous representation of their relationship. To me the highlight (besides Matt and Laura saying “I do”!) was when a recording of Matt’s grandfather played. Matt’s grandfather was a cantor and singer who sung at countless weddings. Even though he could not be there in person, you could feel his presence through the recording. There wasn’t a dry eye amongst everyone who attended – egged on by the beautiful accompaniment of ceremony music by Trio Jolie. With the sounds of breaking glass, and of course a kiss, Laura and Matt sealed their vows and headed off to their tasty cocktail hour.

So yeah, that brings us to THE LIVE BAND! Holy wow, have you hired these guys for your wedding yet? I summarize Matt and Laura’s reception in one word, “jumping”. I couldn’t be more serious. Seriously, Jumper Band had the entire crowd (aka guests) up on their feet dancing the entire night and they totally live up to their name! From the first note, to the last note, they had every guest on the floor rocking their hearts out! The reception started with fun filled entrances, followed by Matt and Laura’s first dance to a really cool slow version of “Shut up and Dance.” Dinner was served, toasts were given, tears were shed and then it was time for the party! Seriously, this band rocked. They rocked so hard they learned one of the groom’s favorite songs and surprised Matt right after cake cutting (a really freakin’ awesome cake by Ann’s Cake Pan with a baseball themed topper – Phillies versus the Mets). It was fantastic watching Matt rock out to Van Halen’s “Panama” live and in person! Kudos to an awesome band, guys (great taste Laura and Matt)!

We want to thank Matt and Laura for an awesome day and making us part of the entire event. We can’t wait to see what is store for Matt and Laura, but whatever is in store, I am sure it is going to rock!
