Pink and Teal Indian Wedding Hilton City Avenue  | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Karuna & Prashant’s Wedding Celebration Highlights

When we first met with Karuna and Prashant, she told me that the theme of their wedding would be pink – and besides adding the element of teal, her plans came to life on August 2, 2014. Such a perfect color for the wonderful festivities their family had in store for their wedding weekend.

Karuna and Prashant’s celebration incorporated many traditional indian festivities.  Our day actually started on Friday with their vihdi and grashanti ceremonies.  The bride and groom’s families gather at separate locations to kick off the evening before the wedding day. Both events are religious ceremonies and prepare the bride and groom for their journey into married life.

When Uncorked Studios arrived on Saturday at the Hilton, Karuna and her bridesmaids were mostly through hair and makeup done by the fabulous Looks by Jassi.  Karuna and Prashant brought their own traditions to their wedding day and decided to have a first look so they could complete portraits in their first outfit before the bharat and ceremony. Prashant’s smile was so heartfelt when he turned around and saw his beautiful bride staring back at him. We completed some portraits and Prashant was ushered out to his white car to start the bharat. The laughter and the cheers as the music plays outside the hotel is certainly one of my favorite parts to the day!

While Prashant was entertained with dance and music, Karuna had her finishing touches applied and her dupatta pinned for her journey down the aisle.  The ceremony was quite traditional; complete with Varaagman, Ganesh Pooja, Kanya Aagman, Kanya Daan & Hastamilap, Jaimala, Mangalpheras, Saptapadi, Kansar Bhakshan, Mangal Sutra, Sindoor, and Ring Exchange, Akhand Saubhagyavati, Ashirvaad, and Vidai. Karuna and Prashant shared a happy smile together as they stood on the front steps of the Hilton, hands held (and tied together), as we snapped a few photos of the official married couple.

Again they were whisked away for an outfit change so the party could officially start! DJ Ravi Jackson welcomed the guests to the pink and teal decorated ballroom. All 365 guests found their seats and welcomed the bridal party, the parents of the couple, and the bride and groom to the reception. The couple was greeted by wonderful toasts and creative traditional dances by important family members. We snuck away for a few more quiet photo moments with the bride and groom as the guests helped themselves to a generous traditional indian buffet. After the cake was cut, the music did not stop for the rest of the night! When it was finally time for the last song, the guests cheered and coaxed the DJ into playing just one more.

Thank you for incorporating us into your beautiful day! Please enjoy their sneak peek slideshow!

Jen and Travis truely captured every important moment in out wedding. This sneak peak is absolutely wonderful. They are both very amazing artists in photography and such a pleasure to work with. They make you feel so comfortable and they even kind of act like the maid of honor and best man buy asking us every so often if we are ok and do we need anything like a drink or food or anything! They are absolutely awesome and I highly recommend them to everyone! Thank you Jen and Travis for putting our very special day into beautiful photos we can keep forever!! Love you guys!!

    Love,
    Karuna and Prashant
