Justin & Christopher’ Wedding Day Highlights

Here is how our day started. We entered the hotel room to Christopher and Justin wearing matching “Groom 1” and “Groom 2” t-shirts in matching blue. We were greeted with a smile and a warm welcome from their friends and family.  This set the tone for the rest of the day.

The bridal party was getting ready in a room at the Courtyard Marriott in Bensalem. The modern rooms with touches of grey and pops of yellow really assisted in making a complimentary background for the guys to get ready for their wedding day. Both Justin and Christopher opted to wear Jos. A. Bank suits in two different hues of blue. Christopher chose Kenneth Cole shoes, an Express tie and a David Yurman wedding band – in which Justin decided, “I steal your style” (perhaps said more eloquently) so his wedding day accessories fell along the same lines. I love how everything paired together once we saw these two stand next to each other for their first look.

Getting ready for the wedding can be overwhelming, but this was soon replaced with a sense of relief for Chris when he turned to see Justin. Both groom’s faces glowed with smiles as they embraced in the quiet courtyard. Justin took a minute to step back and admire his husband-to-be – he recalls his first thought was, “Damn, he looks good!”

We posed and took some bridal party photos as well as family photos outside the hotel before we made our way to Pen Ryn Estate. The courtyard behind the hotel made us feel like we weren’t even in Bensalem! Between the fountain, the lush green plants, and the funky outdoor furniture, it felt like we transported some place much more exotic. It was a neat twist because the two had unofficially/officially decided to incorporate a travel theme into their wedding planning.

The old world charm of Pen Ryn Estate was the backdrop that Justin and Christopher selected as their wedding venue. It’s riverfront country charm creates a classic and photo-worthy location right in the heart of Bensalem. We arrived as early as we could to the grounds to take photos with the grooms-to-be. It is one of our favorite things to do – arrive early to the ceremony location and take photos of the almost-weds in the location that they will be exchanging their vows. We rarely have time to do this on the wedding day and it always makes some of my most favorite photos! (especially when the ceremony site is as scenic as Pen Ryn’s!)

We had enough time before the official family photos and the ceremony to take a stroll all the way to the lands edge right by the river. It is so quiet on this part of the property and you get spectacular views of the mansion from afar. There is so much that happens on a wedding day, it was just nice for Justin and Christopher to have a few moments of focusing on each other before they headed to the ceremony.

As we approached the time for the ceremony, we were delayed for a few minutes when 22 of their 142 guests missed one of the hotel buses. Justin and Christopher will always have a funny fond memory of stressing over the delay of the ceremony, but watching 22 guests climb out of an 11 person van in a “clown car moment” certainly makes them very aware their guests wanted to be at their ceremony and celebrate with the two of them. It was the best part of the day – walking down the aisle and seeing all of their friends and family gathered in one spot to celebrate their marriage.

The grooms took turns being escorted down the aisle by their parents. A mutual friend officiated the ceremony. One of the most unique twists on their ceremony was their unity glass ceremony. Instead of sand, the newlyweds poured different colored beads of glass into a jar which will be melted down and turned into a unity sculpture for the two of them. Very cool! The newlyweds shared their first married kiss and exited the ceremony space with huge smiles and a joint fist pump. I cannot wait to see this moment replayed on Petit Four FIlms highlight film – it was my favorite moment of the whole day!

The ballroom at Pen Ryn Estate was decorated perfectly with blues, golds, and silvers to highlight the newlywed’s travel theme. Many of the elements they incorporated were DIY – you could tell a lot of thought and planning went into their wedding day. The grooms used a map for their guest book and had guests leave pins all over the world on suggestions on where they should adventure next. The escort card table was also little paper airplanes – I was really hoping for a paper airplane flying contest at the reception, but alas, their guests were really good and decided that dancing was good enough entertainment!

The Vincent James Band filled the Pen Ryn Mansion ballroom with music as guests made their way into the space after cocktail hour. The band was a spurge for the couple, but they knew that dancing and having a great time at the reception was one of the most important things to them on their wedding day. The band helped capture the atmosphere Chris and Justin were dreaming to make resulting in their guests raving after the wedding that it was the best wedding they had ever been to! I think their photos really capture that spirit we saw on the dance floor that night.

The newlyweds shared a sweet cake cutting of their cake from Isgro’s Bakery. Wegmans provided the beautiful “something blue” floral centerpieces on each table.  There were little details hidden everywhere!  From custom drinks personalized gifts, there was not a detailed overlooked.  The party swung into high gear and the floor was packed with dancing and selfie taking fiends!

We rocked out with the guys and their #Broleary2017 celebration at Pen Ryn Estate. Thank you guys for including us on your wedding day and we cannot wait to see where your adventures take the two of you!
