Thirsty Thursday: Sweet as Candy

Thirsty Thursday: Sweet as Candy

Wine:  Sutter Home Pink Moscato
Food:  Mmmm Chocolate
Occasion:   Homemade Chocolates for Christmas

Home for the holidays. For the past few years, my mom has made homemade chocolates. Usually I say nothing is sweeter than snacking on homemade goodies made by your mother, but we opened this bottle of wine after dinner today, and it is giving homemade goodies a run for it’s sweetness money.

Went shopping at Sam’s Club today and a bottle of wine caught my eyes. It is light pink in color and is described as “flirtatious” on the Sutter Home website. Flirtatious is a good world, but the color of romance could also describe it. I’m personally a huge fan of Sutter Home; I think they do decent job with their wines. Every time I order a glass, the taste is very consistent, which is always a plus in my book, I like to know what to expect.

It looks so nice in the bottle.

Moscato wines are very sweet. Most would consider these wines Dessert Wines, and this particular bottle I’d have to agree. It was so sweet you could feel the residual sugars on your teeth when you were done drinking it. The description on the bottle reads:

“Our delicious Pink Moscato has an extravagant honeysuckle fragrance and is bursting with passion fruit and honeydew melon. This delightful rose wine is so refreshing you’re bound to blush.”

I enjoyed one glass of this wine. I personally love sweeter white wines, but I found this one too sweet to just sit and drink more than one glass. It paired decently with the handmade chocolates my mom made, but I’m not sure either enhanced each other’s flavors. Despite my few complaints, I still chalk this up in the “win” category because it rings in at 10% alcohol and I purchased it for less than $5.00 a bottle. If you’re a fan of ice wines and late harvest wines, please give this one a try. If nothing else, it is really pretty when poured in a glass. (it’s also a screw top bottle for easy access)

The color was very very pretty. Pretty-in-Pink Pretty.

‘Tis the season for a little sweetness, yes? Here are a few more sweetness pictures that are guaranteed to tickle your taste buds. Enjoy!

Don’t they look yummy? I’m hoping I can get her to guest write here sometime in 2012; I’d love to know how she makes all her wonderful treats.
