Our day with Kelly and Jon’s started at Kelly’s parents house where Travis and I made ourselves at home in their piano room with Kelly’s Maggie Sottero dress. Such soft flowy fabric (perfect material for a wedding dress!). We always like to center ourselves and start out the day learning about our couples by focusing in on the details the bride choses to wear. When the girls arrived from the salon, their moods were calm and collective, but as soon as we arrived to the church, Kelly’s face turned into a huge smile. You could really feel her excitement to take the walk down the aisle and marry Jon.

From the ceremony at the Parish of Saint Ann, we took a drive over to the Cross Estate Gardens.  This property was initial established in 1905, but the second owners of the estate made huge improvements to the gardens between 1940 and 1975. When the gardens were sold to the Morristown National Historical Park, volunteers came aboard to tend to the gardens to what you see today. What a fun place to take photos! When Kelly saw this place, she knew there was no other location she could take her wedding photos.

From Cross Estates we trekked over to Bridgewater Manor where Kelly and Jon danced the night away with the wedding party and guests. So many guests were from Kelly and Jon’s old stomping ground, Penn State; and they brought the part-ay!  I’m pretty sure Kelly’s Grandmother had them all beat on the dance floor, there was no competition.  Before the reception got officially underway, we managed to snap a few more portraits in the Manor’s outdoor ceremony space; I mean, who can resist a fountain at dusk? So happy to be apart of your big day! Check out some of their wonderful venders and read Kelly’s words below!

Why did you choose Uncorked Studios?

K:  We chose Uncorked Studios because my sister-in-law had used Jen for her wedding photos. We loved how her photos turned out and in turn, fell in love with the flexibility that Uncorked Studios provided with their packages. We were able to create a custom package of all of the pieces that we wanted without having to pay for pieces that we were not going to utilize. The pricing was very fair and we loved working with both Jen and Travis. We were excited that they were willing to drive to Penn State for our engagement photos and still do a wedding for us in New Jersey. We felt comfortable with both of them and enjoyed their excitement and serenity that they provided throughout the process.

How did you choose your theme? Flowers? and overall wedding design?

K:  It was fairly easy for us to choose our overall wedding design. We both knew that we wanted an elegant and classy look. Choosing colors was a bit more difficult. In hindsight, I can appreciate my sisters’ stubborn take on bridesmaid dress colors. It came down to choice “C” and I think that I was more grateful we could agree on something than upset I did not have my first choice. The shade of purples turned out to be beautiful and I still had the overall look that I was searching for. I have always loved both Calla Lilies and Orchids, so it was easy to decide to have both of those flowers in the wedding.

What do you want to always remember from your wedding day?

K:  We want to remember the entire day. There is so much planning and anticipation and then the day is over in a blink of an eye. We just hope that we can remember all of the small moments that we enjoyed so much.

What was the best part of your wedding day?

K:  To be completely honest, the food was the best part. Not only was it absolutely delicious and everyone fully loved it, but we were both starving!! We gobbled down the Hors d’oevres and wished we could have eaten more of the main course. But when you haven’t eaten anything all day, the food is always the highlight.

After looking at your photos and talking to people, did anything happen at your wedding that you are just now realizing?

K:  We never realized just how packed the dance floor was and were so excited to see a variety of our guests out there on the dance floor having a great time!

What was the most memorable moment?

K:  The most memorable moment was my (Kelly’s) grandmother dancing on the dance floor. She brought her bright white sneakers and completely rocked the “power walk” move the entire night. I have never seen her dance before and we couldn’t get her off the floor! It was so great to see her having such a great time.

Did you splurge on anything that in retrospect was worth every penny?

K:  We spent a good deal on our DJ even though we knew that half of the wedding guests would not dance. However, we had a fabulous DJ who really brought both families together. He blended my Italian/New Jersey culture and traditions with Jon’s more conservative traditions and really had everyone out on the dance floor the entire night.

“IF I only I knew!” what is one piece of advise you would give to brides planning their wedding day?

K: If only I knew just how fast the day would go, I would have taken time to slow down and enjoy the moment. The night was over before I could really soak it all in.
