We were so excited when Leeann and Matt approached us with the idea of holding their engagement session in a movie theater!  We couldn’t dream of a better backdrop than the historic Colonial Theatre, located just around the corner from Uncorked Studios.  In our pre-planning e-mails, Leeann mentioned how important it was to include Matt’s mini-truck; because the theme for their wedding is “Draggin’ it to the Alter.”

The mini-truck was a lot of fun to work with and a super prop for this engagement session! The coolest part of this vehicle is Matt can raise and lower it so it is drivable, but it can also “be seated” on the ground. I can’t wait to see all the fun we are going to have at their wedding working with this truck (and more!).

This truck was easily incorporated into their engagement session because the Colonial allows their marquee to be rented out. We put a custom phrase up on the outside of the Colonial Theatre (not photoshopped, it’s all in-camera!).

Just as a side note, For all you photo buffs out there, our biggest factor in this session was to get the lighting JUST right! The Colonial Theatre was built in 1903 and is not well lit (to say the least).  One of the employees of the Colonial Theatre told us there is a beautiful original chandelier in the center of the theater, but it is currently off-site being/on the list to be renovated. To remedy this, we brought with us our portable studio lights and off camera flashes to create all the lighting effects you see in their photos.

I (Jen) am also slightly convinced it is haunted, considering our off camera flashes (these function by using RF waves) had a handful of unusual mis-fires while we were photographing at the theater… but I am no ghost hunter, so I don’t have any other evidence besides my own suspicions to back this up 🙂

How did you choose Uncorked Studios?

We chose Uncorked Studios after we had a bad experience with <a different photography company> and wanted to find photographers who really got us, are talented, and genuine, nice people. I Googled photographers and found Uncorked Studios. After we met Jen and Travis in person, we knew they were the perfect photographers for us!

How did you prepare for the session?

We didn’t really prepare for the session. We were just ready to do whatever Jen and Travis thought would work. Oh yeah, and Matt washed his truck. Haha!

What was the best part of the session?

The best part of the session was getting to take pictures with Matt’s mini truck. It was so great to be able to incorporate it!

Why should other couples do an e-session?

Other couples should do an e – session because they are such fun! They are the first “official” pictures of your relationship and will leave a lasting memory.
