Rebecca & Shaan’s Wedding Weekend Highlights

So their happened to be a teeny bit of rain for all three days of Rebecca and Shaan’s celebration (some days more than others!) – we also saw a bit of blue sky. According to TheKnot.com, rain represents good luck in Hindu tradition – so multiply this by three! May you have many lifetimes together of happiness!

When I think of Rebecca and Shaan, I always remember back to our initial meeting and the inquiry she put through our website. Best. Quote. EVER. “Hi! It was so nice meeting you at the bridal show last Sunday. I’m the one who works with robots whose fiance ran away to Boston! I would love to talk more about the possibility of using you guys for our photographer!”

I’m so glad we talked more! This duo took us on a full fledged weekend party!

Festivities started Friday evening at the St. Vincent Pallotti Church. The couple united in a traditional Catholic mass. After some quick family photos, we darted through the rain drops to meet up with their guests at the Camden Country Boathouse. Before joining cocktail hour, we climbed up to the 3rd floor and took some dramatic photos against the calming skies. We joined their guests and the newlyweds mingled during dinner. They cut the cake, made a quick toast and the night ended quite young so the party-goers could get a good nights sleep before Saturday’s event.

On a complete side note, Rebecca contacted me in August in regards to her wedding dress. Rebecca and her older sister decided that the wedding day would be the perfect time to play a prank on their youngest sister. With our help, we dyed one of Rebecca’s wedding dresses orange. Yes, you read that correctly. I’m sure I’ll do a whole blog post on this at *some* point – but until then, here’s a few images of the before and after. Rebecca decided it would be perfect to see if she could convince her fashion forward sister that she was going to be married in an orange-ombre dyed wedding gown – keep the dress a secret until the wedding day – then at a convenient point during the getting ready reveal her real white wedding gown.

When we arrived at the Courtyard Glassboro-Rowan, Rebecca was calm and ready for the day’s festivities (today she was going to play a prank on her sister!!!!).  We photographed all of her details (hello fun orange shoes from Amazon.com) and anxiously waited for Pair of Hearts Films to arrive so we could do the dress reveal. Do you know how many white lies we had to makeup to keep Rebecca’s sister from discovering the truth?!

I Do Hair and Makeup did a spectacular job on all the bridesmaids and the bride! The ladies put on their gowns from David’s Bridal and we finally brought in the dress bag for Rebecca’s sister to unzip and reveal “the dress.” Boy did her mouth drop when Rebecca told her it was the dress she was going to get married in! The rouse didn’t last long, and Rebecca’s oldest sister brought in the real dress – a stunning lacy delight from Allure Bridal. All three women were in tears (happy tears!) as Rebecca was zipped into her real wedding dress. She cradle her flowers which had her mother’s photo pinned to the stems. She carefully placed her mom’s diamond earrings in her ears and she was ready for her first look with Shaan.

Fortunately the skies held off the rain long enough for the almost-weds to do their first look. Shaan’s smile stretched across his face as he pulled Rebecca in for a hug. We raced through some outdoor portraits and finished with a stellar shot in the rain (so they will always remember their wedding day!). We retreated into the large reception tent to finish family and bridal party photos. Before we knew it, it was time for Father Seamus Campbell to perform the wedding ceremony for the 227 guests. It was then time to party!

Steve from Soundworks Productions kept the party going all night. Uncorked Studios open air Photo Booth was also a hit for the non-dancer (and dancer) crowd.

Sunday evening was the final event of the weekend. The couple dressed in traditional clothing for a dinner and a blessing. Rebecca finally got to wear her orange dress! (no, it wasn’t the one we dyed, but a traditional sari instead). The newlyweds arrived via limo to Deewan Banquet where they were greeted by family. After quite the social evening (in fact the whole weekend!), we finished our time with the newlyweds with a quick photo session in the grand lobby of the hall.
