Melanie & Jason’s Wedding Day Highlights

I knew it was going to be a great day when we arrived to the bridal suite and Melanie looked at us and said, “today is going to be a great day, I’ve always wanted to be a wife.”

The view from the Hilton Penns Landing is quite impressive – essentually standing at the windows in the bridal suite, it was like having a preview of the day to come. From the window, you could see the location that Melanie and Jason were going to do their first look (just outside the hotel). Next, it was easy to picture them taking a stroll together through the blooming trees by the waterfront, meeting up with their bridal party to take in the view near the Seaport Museum, and lastly coming aboard the Freedom Elite where their wedding ceremony would take place before leaving the dock. From the windows of the hotel you could look left and right to see the cruising path the ship would take as the newlyweds and their guests danced the evening away under the April stars.

Melanie was beaming as the hair and make-up artist from Bella Angel completed her bridal look. The first look couldn’t come fast enough! She shared a quick champagne and flannel toast with her bridal party then put on her David’s Bridal gown. While Melanie was laughing the morning away, Jason shared a quiet moment in his room by himself. It was a big day, not only because it was his wedding day, but because it was also Jason’s birthday! Some say it’s great luck to get married on the groom’s birthday.

The almost-weds shared their first look outside the hotel near Spruce Street Harbor Park. Jason’s mouth turned into a smile for the first time that day and he graciously accepted a wedding/birthday gift from his wife to be – a set of custom cufflinks with a photo of his mother and father printed on them. The rest of the portrait session went by rather rapidly. We made complete use of the waterfront for backdrops for photos before we walked to the Freedom Elite to get prepared for the ceremony.

When you get married on the Freedom Elite, the ceremony is performed by the Captain before the ship departs for a sunset dinner cruise. The sky displayed a cloudy backdrop for the couple as the short and sweet ceremony was performed. The two exchanged vows and rings in front of 50 of their closest friends and family. They shared their first married kiss and it was time to depart the dock for the start of cocktail hour. Guests laughed, drank, and took in the views along the waterway. The newlyweds did their first dance on deck where their ceremony took place. The intimate dinner took place inside the ships ballroom with floral decorations by Caroline’s Floral Designs.. Right after dinner, Melanie and Jason cut their Bredenbeck’s Bakery cake and proceeded to dance the night away under the stars.

One of the most iconic parts of the wedding day for us was the nighttime photo as the Freedom Elite traveled under the Ben Franklin bridge. It is such a unique perspective to travel under the bridge with all the lights of the city and Melanie and Jason stood and looked as if they own the city in the photograph we took.

Thank you for having us aboard for your wedding!
