Jennifer & Dan’s Wedding Day Highlights

One of my favorite wedding experiences is to photograph the bride and groom getting ready together for their wedding day. There is something so perfect about a woman adjusting her man’s collar and him reciprocating the favor by helping her with her jewelry on the first day of the rest of their lives together.

Jennifer and Dan happened to meet by chance, but it was perfect from day one. We were fortunate enough to be taken to one of the spots from their first day – they also allowed us to recreate one of the first photos of the two of them! Planning moments like this into your wedding day can really bring back some sweet memories and help create new ones in the process. But wait, let me go back to the beginning of the day 🙂

We arrived to the Sheraton Society Hill in Philadelphia on (sorry for the repetitiveness) a perfect October day – seriously, perfection for October weather. Jennifer, Dan, and their bridal party all got ready together in one room – this is such a cool way to start a wedding day because everyone is together and hanging out from the  beginning! Jennifer’s dress was a vintage style, which she found second hand, with an amazing off the shoulder style and buttons down her back. All of her jewelry made up her wedding “old, borrowed, and blue” while her shoes, from Pleaser USA, rounded out her ensemble with a cute heel and covered in lace to match the accents on her dress. Besides the excited twinkle in her eye, the next sparkliest part of her outfit was her gorgeous wedding and engagement set from Neil Lane. Dan put on his black suit and Jennifer pinned his corsage to his lapel. They were ready to rock and roll!

After ordered two black Ubers, we took a jaunt over to the Philadelphia Museum of Art to start their photo session. The blue sky was a perfect addition to the black, red, and white colors of the bridal party. Instead of traditional bouquets, the ladies of the bridal party carried red rose pomander balls. Next stop on our photo adventure was Franklin Square for a quick snapshot in front of the Franklin Square fountain. We didn’t stay long because we had places to be!

We briefly stopped at Game Piece Park to play amongst the art, then it was off to Front Steps of First Bank where we finished up photos with a sophisticated Philadelphia twist.

My favorite photo spot of the day was Logan Square – this was one of the locations of Jennifer and Dan’s first dates! We re-created one of the first images they took together then made our way back to the hotel so the couple could get ready for their ceremony and reception aboard the Freedom Elite.

Once all 40 (give or take a few) guests were aboard the yacht, the captain gathered everyone for the ceremony on the aft of the boat. Most guests stood, but everyone crowded together for the intimate ceremony. After a couple ‘I-do’s” and a kiss, Jennifer and Dan recessed down the aisle to sign the official paperwork uniting them in marriage! Let the party start!

We left the Penn’s Landing dock right at sunset, and guests were treated to views of the city from the river. During the dinner portion of the cruise, the Captain treated us to views of the planes arriving and departing from Philadelphia International Airport. We then turned and made our way back under the Ben Franklin Bridge and up a little ways. The lights of the city are so romantic at night! Our night ended back at Penn’s Landing with a cute sparkler sendoff for the newlyweds!
