Top 8 Reasons for E-Sessions

Top 8 Reasons for E-Sessions

Uncorked Studios, LLC

Spring always makes me think of E-Sessions, mostly because the flowers are starting to take root, the green is starting to come back, and the sky is just so darn blue. Amore is in the air. I just adore engagements and the way newly attached couples just *look* at each other.

I’ve taken the time (with a little help from my friends) to put together a list of the top reasons why you should commit to an e-session before you say, “I do.”

The Top 8 Reasons for an Uncorked Studios E-Session with Jen & Travis

1. FACT: Your wedding photos will look better

Okay, so perhaps I don’t have scientific proof behind my “FACT,” but the proof is in the pictures. The more time you spend in front of the camera before your wedding day, the better you and your fiancé will look in your wedding photos.  By working with Travis and I before your wedding day, you’ll perfect the body lingo required for great pictures. Trust me, you’re gonna look SMOKIN’.

2. Jump out of a plane.

So maybe that’s taking it to the extreme, BUT E-Sessions are fun, creative, and unique to you and your fiancé.

Travis and I always advise our couples to do something out of their comfort zone and unique to them.  By doing this, you not only bond with each other but with us.  E-Sessions are all about capturing your personality while taking the photos you would not be able to get on your wedding day.

Have fun. Jump in a lake. Smooch your hunny, a lot. Wade into the ocean. Hold hands. Jump out of a plane. Give hugs. Engagement photos are all about you. Be spontaneous in love.

3. Create a relationship with your photographers prior to your wedding

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, Travis and I love to take pictures and have fun. If you feel uncomfortable with us, its going to come through in every photo we take.  An E-Session will continue to develop our friendship so on your wedding day you’re welcoming us into your space as friends, not paparazzi.

4. Ridiculously amazing SWAG!

Put the images from your E-Session to good use! You’re going to have drop-dead-gorgous amazing photos so use them to personalize your invitations or guestbook with photos from your session. Save-the Dates anyone? Have you thought about a reception slideshow? You can get your favorite photo blown up and framed to hang on the wall while you count down the days until the BIG day.

Studies have proven that people are more likely to respond to messages with pictures.  Using the images on your save-the-dates, invitations, or wedding website might help increase the odds people will timely respond to invitations.

5. Make it a Date Night

You’re already gussied up, for the photo session right? Time to go out on a date after the fact. Reconnect with each other!

At your E-Session the pair of you will most likely spend a lot of time in each other arms, or smooching. Don’t forget, you are in love with each other. Post E-Session is a great time to have a date and talk about everything EXCEPT wedding related topics.  Take a moment to remember why you’re getting hitched in the first place.

6. Your Grandmother loves these photos.

It’s true. Gift her a photo to replace the one of you at age three which has been on the refrigerator for the past 15 years. On several occasions our couple have lived thousands of miles away from their family and the engagement photos are the first time the bride’s family has seen the groom in a photo not taken on a cell phone.  Sending them a nice professional photo of you and your fiancé at your best, is a fantastic introduction.

Engagement portraits make fantastic holiday presents for loved ones.

Some other family members are more apt to display a casual photo of the pair of you rather than a wedding photo. Most people feel an elegant wedding photo deserve a respectable framed spot on the mantel whereas, an engagement photo may find an easier home on the office desk or tucked into the corner of another frame in the house.

7. Set the Mood. *wink wink*

Or maybe more appropritatly use the images to help establish the feel and/or theme of your wedding.  Traditional etiquette books discuss how the feel/dress/and theme of a wedding should never be written or printed in the invitation (i.e. you aren’t supposed to put “black tie” on an invitation).  The themes and feeling should be deduced through the materials provided to the guests.  The photos from the engagement session can be used to help create and convey the feeling or theme creating an experience for your guests.

Typically our couples will bring a couple different outfits to their session. This way we can capture all the moods that describe them AND their wedding.

8. Instant Facebook Profile improvement.

Shout it out! Update your status; you’re engaged, and it’s a happy, happy time! Show off the bling bling.

Or, Travis may say it more eloquently. “It’s not the destination is the goal – Planning a wedding can be a long and involved process which is a journey.  Engagement photos mark the start of that journey and can be used throughout albums and other print materials to document the entire journey of your wedding.”
